RICK STEPHENS
I’m Running for Truckee Tahoe Airport Board Because Community Matters.
ABOUT RICK
Rick is a non-pilot local resident and former business executive who resides in Truckee with his wife Gail. He is passionate about the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe communities, and ran for the Truckee Tahoe Airport District Board of Directors in 2016 because he believed the Airport District could and should do more for all of the communities that pay taxes that contribute to the District’s general fund. He remains committed to ensuring the District gives back in a way that supports the community, environment and economy.
MILITARY SERVICE
Rick was in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 in both Vietnam and Germany.
EDUCATION
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1972, and his MBA from Stanford University in 1974
A HISTORY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE
From 1975 to 1980, Rick served as a board member, board president and annual auction chairman for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita.
MOVING TO THE MOUNTAINS
On June 1, 2007, Rick and Gail made Truckee their primary residence because of their love of the mountains, hiking and the sense of community the region offers.
GIVING BACK
Rick is Community Minded
On behalf of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, Rick served as the volunteer project manager for the Community House in Kings Beach, taking the project from land acquisition and design to construction over the course of four years.
Rick is a Truckee River Day volunteer and regular contributor to the Truckee River Watershed Council. He also served on the Community Advisory Committee on property tax for the Truckee Fire District from 2011 to 2012. Rick was also appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors in 2018 to the Citizens Advisory Committee, which allocates Temporary Occupancy Tax (TOT) to projects in the “resort triangle.”
